Accessibility

Sightsavers is committed to providing a site which is as accessible to everyone as possible. Our aim is that the site should conform to the standards stipulated by the Web Accessibility Initiative, and we are continually seeking to make improvements.

Font size

All font sizes are relative, with the exception of graphical text, and that text size can be increased or decreased using the ‘text size’ links on each page or by following these steps:

  • For Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox: Use the View > Text Size options in the browser menu;
  • For Apple Safari: Use the Safari > Preferences > Appearance options in the browser menu.

Images

All images, apart from those that are used for design reasons only, have appropriate alternative text.

Navigation

All of our pages are designed to be navigable by colour-blind users.

All navigation can be accessed via tabbing as well as by using a mouse.

All pages contain a ‘skip to content’ option, for those speech browser users who may wish to bypass repeated navigation.

For more information about ways you can change your settings to make the web more accessible, you can visit the BBC's My Web My Way site.

Please note that as we are not registered medical practitioners and do not directly deliver eye care in the countries in which we work, but work with local partners, we are not able to respond to any questions regarding medical issues. Please contact your health service provider for medical advice.
